Why SEEP?
Vertical Transportation (VT) is an integral part of building systems and is one of the fast-growing industries, however, due to lack of an inclusive platform to represent the VT Professionals at global Level, the “Society of Elevators and Escalators Professionals” (SEEP) was founded in Feb. 2022 at LinkedIn to unite the VT fraternity under one roof for the common cause.
On 6th June 2024, SEEP Portal (SEEPonline.com) has been officially lauched to take the whole concept to the next level by eleminating the drawbacks and risks involved in using other Social Media platforms for Professional Networking.
In the next phase, an exclusive Mobile Devices app (Android & iOS) will be launched for a better and seemless user experience.
Your current social or professional networking platform could be a powerful tool for professional networking, job searching, and personal branding, however they have below mentioned risks, drawbacks and limitations, which are considerd amicably by SEEPonline.com
Privacy Concerns:
- Data Security: They collects a vast amount of personal information which can be a target for data breaches.
- Profile Visibility: Users often face challenges in managing the visibility of their profiles and information to different groups (e.g., recruiters, colleagues, strangers).
Spam and Unsolicited Messages:
- Recruiter Spam: Many users receive an excessive number of irrelevant job offers and messages from recruiters.
- Sales and Marketing Spam: Professionals often encounter unsolicited messages and connection requests from individuals trying to sell services or products.
Content Quality and Relevance:
- Low-Quality Content: There is an increasing amount of low-quality content and non-professional posts, which can clutter users’ feeds.
- Echo Chambers: Similar to other social media platforms, LinkedIn can create echo chambers where users are exposed only to opinions and posts that align with their own views.
Algorithm Issues:
- Visibility: The algorithm can sometimes be unpredictable, leading to important posts getting little exposure while less relevant ones gain traction.
- Engagement Bias: Content that is more engaging (likes, comments) is often prioritized over more valuable but less engaging information.
Job Application Process:
- Lack of Feedback: Many users apply for jobs through LinkedIn but rarely receive feedback from employers, leading to a frustrating job search experience.
- Application Tracking: The platform lacks sophisticated tools for tracking applications and managing the job search process effectively.
Platform Usability and Features:
- Interface Complexity: Some users find LinkedIn’s interface to be cluttered and not user-friendly, making navigation and finding specific features difficult.
- Feature Restrictions: Many valuable features, such as advanced search filters and detailed analytics, are locked behind a paywall (Premium Subscription).
Networking Challenges:
- Superficial Connections: The ease of connecting can lead to a network filled with superficial connections rather than meaningful professional relationships.
- Endorsements and Recommendations: These features can be gamed, leading to endorsements that may not genuinely reflect a person’s skills or professional capabilities.
Accessibility and Inclusivity:
- Global Reach: While LinkedIn is popular in many countries, its reach and influence are not uniform globally, limiting its utility in certain regions.
- Professional Bias: The platform tends to favor white-collar professions, often neglecting trades and other career paths.
Monetization and Ads:
- Intrusive Ads: The presence of ads can detract from the user experience, making the platform feel more commercialized.
- Cost of Premium Services: Premium and other paid features can be expensive, which may not be justifiable for all users.
Mental Health Impact:
- Comparison Stress: Constant exposure to others’ professional achievements can lead to stress and feelings of inadequacy among users.
Understanding these drawbacks, SEEPonline.com was initiated to provide a safer platform to all VT Professionals to explore their true potential.
